Day 2 - 2/12
Time to wake up! We're getting together with some friends today. Gene is dropping us off at the Swan and then he and the kids are heading over to Disney-MGM Studios, they want to get an early start and get in a few of the rides that will be crowded later. We'll meet them at the Sorcerer's hat at 11:00.
Here we are at the Swan, pull up a seat in the lobby. We're early, the others should be here in about 20 minutes.
Here comes Olga, she spots us first. And there are Donna and Tony.... hugs all around. Poor Tony hurt his back, so he gets a kiss instead of a hug. He's pretty sore, he'll have to get a wheelchair when we get to the park. Let's go catch the boat to Disney-MGM Studios! It doesn't take long to get a wheelchair and we're off!
Tony wants to do what? Rock 'n' Roller Coaster? You've gotta be kidding me! He's either crazy or those are some good painkillers! I'm game, I love RnRC! Here's our limo now and we're in the first two seats... I'm going to pretend I'm asleep when they take the picture. Wheeeeeee
Great ride! But once was enough for Tony's back. We're going to head over to the Sorcerer's hat so I can find Gene and the kids and so the smokers can take a smoke break in the smoking area. Here comes my family now. :)
Have a seat and we'll discuss what we're going to do next. Lunch is in our plans and Sci-Fi Dine-In is up for consideration, but nobody really wants to do anything else at the studios, so we're going to go to Epcot. We have our van here and there's plenty of room for everyone, so hop on in. We're making a short detour to drop Justin off at our room, he has a headache.
Next stop - Epcot! Donna and Tony are going to get another wheelchair, we'll just wait here with Olga.
There they are!
Are you hungry? Because it's lunchtime and we're heading over to the Land to eat at the Garden Grill. My family has never eaten here so it will be a new experience for us. Lunch is a character meal as the restaurant rotates.
This is where I discover that Chip gives better kisses, but Dale gives better hugs. :)
Dig in, there's plenty of food and they'll bring more if we finish this. Of course we can finish this, here he comes with more. And now we get dessert! Yummmm.
Gene is describing the Re-Hitching Ceremony to Rachel. What he doesn't know is that I asked for us to be re-hitched. It hits him as a total surprise. :) He didn't pay attention to the instructions and stopped kissing too soon, so we have to do it again. We get it right the second time and get our certificate and an Anniversary cake to share with the group.
I hope you had enough to eat. Now, let's go over to the Living Seas and see if we can find Nemo!
I found him!
He's over by the coral reef.
Are you ready to see if we can get inside this time? Oh good, we can get in. There's Nemo and all his friends.
Well, it's about time for us to get going. We want to check up on Justin and relax for a bit. We had a great time this morning, we'll see you all later!
Justin still has his headache. Rachel is going to keep him company while Gene and I take a dip in the main pool. Gene really wants to go in the sauna. It's too hot for me, so I think I'll nap on this chair until he's finished. Are you good and hot now? Good, let's jump in the pool and cool off. I can't believe that Gene's going back in the sauna again. I'm going back to my lounge chair, I've had enough swimming.
Okay kids, it's time to get motivated. We going over to Pop Century this evening to check it out and take some pictures.
The sun is just starting to go down, so I don't have a chance to take pictures of every building. That just gives me an excuse to come back on a future vacation. :)
A few of my observations of Pop Century...
Children are going to love the bright colors and huge icons.
There is something here to bring back happy memories for everyone. You could spend hours looking at the exhibits hanging on the walls at the check-in area.
You must pass through the store to get to the food court from inside the building. Good strategy on Disney's part, more opportunity to see a souvenir that you can't pass up. There is an outside entrance to the food court from the back of the building that does not pass through the shop.
The food court is large and has many selections, there's something there for the whole family. Rachel and Justin get sandwiches and fries for dinner. There seems to be ample seating.
Over all, Pop Century is just too much for me, too much visually... too gaudy, too bright, too much going on all at once. It's a nice place to visit and I'll be back for more pictures, but I don't think I'll be staying there for any length of time.
Now that the kids are finished eating, they want to go back to the room. I can't believe they'd rather go on the computer and talk to their friends back home. We're just going to drop them off and spend some time alone at the Marketplace.
This is a good time to stop in at Basin and buy a few more shampoo bars. We've only used these shampoo bars since we discovered them here last year. We've tried many of their products, but the ones we keep coming back for are the shampoo bars. The olive oil soap is a big hit with our family, too. It leaves a light, clean, sweet scent on your skin.
As long as we're here, let's stop in to the World of Disney. I'm hoping that I see a t-shirt that I just have to have, but nothing is jumping out at me. I'll just have to keep a look out on the rest of vacation, I'm sure I'll find a t-shirt just right for me.
Are you getting hungry? I've always wanted to try Bongo's, which is unusual for me because I'm a very picky eater.
There's a half hour wait, so we're going to get sandwiches outside at the Cuban Cafe instead. The sandwiches are very good. Now I really want to try the main restaurant.
And we're done just in time to go back and watch Survivor. I guess we're just as bad as the kids. :)
See you tomorrow!
