Day 2 - 3/2
Time to wake up! Are you ready to check into Old Key West? I sure am, let's go see if our room is ready. We haven't made very many plans for this vacation - I wonder what today will bring.
Oh, our villa is ready, first thing in the morning! But before we go unpack, let's stop at Olivia's and have some breakfast. How would you like your eggs? I'm not big on breakfast, but this is pretty good. shame on me for forgetting the server's name (I think it's Janet) because she's a lot of fun. She performs ballet moves around the restaurant as she serves breakfast. That was good. As long as we're here, lets walk outside and take some pictures.
Here we go, time to go to villa 3123, a 1-bedroom villa on the second floor. Gene and I are going in first to take pictures. I'm the still photographer and he's in charge of video. While we're getting pictures and video, the kids will bring up the luggage. Oh My Goodness, check out our villa! Isn't this great?!?! We all have a job; the kids are bringing in the luggage, Gene is unpacking the food and putting it away, and I'm in charge of unpacking the clothes and putting them away. Would you hold the door, please?
There we go - all done. Justin wants to get his video games hooked up and working, but the rest of us are going swimming. Care to join us?
Rachel is too young to ride a Water Mouse by herself, but she really wants to ride one of these Hydro-Bikes.
She and Gene are each going to rent one for 30 minutes. I'm just going to sit up here and drink a frozen Cappuccino while I wait for them. Care to join me? Rachel really had fun pedaling away. Let's go back to the villa and figure out what we're going to do the rest of the day.
It's getting very cloudy and it's supposed to rain. We don't really feel like walking around a park in the rain, so how about if we all go to Downtown Disney? This is a perfect day to play at Disney Quest! I finally get to go on the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disney Quest and it is so much fun! I'm supposed to be steering the ship, but I'm not very good at it. After we go on CyberSpace Mountain, I talk the kids into going on it again and riding one of the #5 coasters that are already made up so I can buy the video for a souvenir.
Disney Quest was a lot of fun. As long as we're down here, why not do a little shopping. Justin loves the Virgin MegaStore so we have to go there. Then we drive to the other end so we can make a quick stop at The World of Disney and Once Upon a Toy. There are so many things I'd like to buy!
We're still sort of sluggish from the ride down, it usually takes a couple of days to recover. Let's go back to the villa, we can rest and figure out what we want to do with our evening. What would you like to do? I don't know, what would you like to do? I don't know, what would you like to do. I know what I want to do - it's dinner time. I want to go to 'Ohana. We were going to eat there on our last vacation, but missed it. I don't want to miss it this time, so let's go tonight.
We do almost all of our own driving rather than taking the bus. I love it because Gene does the driving while we're down here. If it were up to me, we'd valet park, but Gene decides that the walk won't hurt us. He finds a close parking space anyway. There's a wait, but I don't mind. I'll stay here and mind the beeper and you guys can take a walk and check out the volcano pool. It sure is nicer than the old pool.
Glad you're back because it's our turn! We're almost sitting at the same table we sat at the last time we were here. Each of us is looking forward to our favorite dish. Want to hear something strange? I normally don't care for salads, but I love the salad dressing here and that's what I'm looking forward to the most. That and the shrimp, of course. :) It's all sooooo good.
Well, that pretty much took up our evening. We've decided that this vacation is going to be more laid back than usual. Now that we're Disney Vacation Club members, we know that we'll be coming back, so we're going to slow down and check out the things we usually run past. We're going to call it a night and get up early tomorrow and head over to the Animal Kingdom.
