Day 3 - 10/20
Rise and shine, it's time to play! It's time to visit the Magic Kingdom and we want to get an early start! We almost always drive to the parks, but there's plenty of room for you in the van, so let's go!
Our first stop will be the railroad. You might not have realized this, but it really is the easiest and quickest way to get around. We're going to take it over to Frontierland to ride Splash Mt. and we'll probably beat a lot of guests who are walking. (Shhhh... don't tell them the secret.) Rachel and I are going to sit in the front seat, but I plan on ducking as low as I can. BEWARE..... you may get wet!
Did you get wet? I did, but not too bad. You're welcome to stay here with the kids if you'd like, but Gene and I are going to take the train over to Toontown because I want to take some pictures. The kids will meet us in Fantasyland in an hour or so. Back on the train we go, Toontown has it's own train station. I think Mickey's Toontown is so cute. If I were a child I'd want to stay here all day. There's so much to see and do here! There's even a little play area for the very young that I never noticed before.
I love the bright colors and odd shapes of Toontown.
I think I have enough pictures now, and it's almost time to meet up with the kids. And they're right on time! Mickey's Philharmagic just opened a few days ago and that's where we're headed now. I hope you're as excited as we are. :)
Did you like it? I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority, but I'm pretty disappointed. :( It seemed to me like a big commercial for all of the latest Disney animated films. I think they could have done a better job. :(
But I'm not disappointed for long because we're heading over to one of my favorite attractions: Winnie the Pooh! This ride sure brings out the kid in me. Besides, Eeyore lives here! :)
Are you ready for a special treat??? Word is that the Timekeeper is open again. I can't remember the last time I saw that and I'm really looking forward to it. Let's go! I wish this attraction was open more often, it's a shame that Alien Encounter had to close for them to open Timekeeper. As I watch it's all coming back to me. Remember nine-eye?
I hope this will still be open on our next trip.
There's one more thing we hope to accomplish this morning. The boys have put off getting their hair cut so that they could get it cut here in the Magic Kingdom while I take pictures. So, off we go to the Barber Shop!
Uh oh, it's packed. We're going to try again on a different day.
Well, that's it for this morning. The park is starting to fill up and we're getting hungry. Would you like to have lunch with us? We're heading back to the villa, everybody in the van!
We brought some food from home and we're going to have chicken wraps. There's plenty for everyone... would you like some extra cheese? It's time to relax, the kids are playing video games and I'm going to lie down for a little bit.
Did you fall asleep? I did. :) The kids want to stay in the villa, but Gene and I are going to Stormalong Bay. Why don't you join us? Did you bring your swimming suit?
Hey, what's going on here? I know this is the spot with the deep sand, but where is the deep sand? And here is the spot where the bubbles come up, but where are they? And why is that big canvass across the lazy river? This isn't exactly what I was expecting, in fact, Stormalong Bay just seems like another pool today... nothing special. I think I'll stick to the quiet pool from now on. The good thing is that when all is said and done at the end of our vacation, this is the biggest disappointment, so I really don't have anything to complain about. :)
Now, for the best part of the day.... time to change because we're going to Epcot! The Food & Wine Festival just began two days ago and we're going to munch our way around World Showcase for dinner. Last one to change out of their swimming suits is a rotten egg. :)
Don't you just love the walk from the BCV to International Gateway? I can't believe how quickly we got here! We're just going to hang a right and walk until we see something we want to try. Looks like Justin is first... he's decided to try the Frog Leg Chowder in France. Ewwww! No, I don't want to try it, if I wanted to eat something that tastes like chicken, I'd eat chicken! Just let us know if you see something you want to try and we'll wait for you.
As long as we're at Japan, we need to go shopping. Rachel is going to get a pearl. She picks out her own oyster and we get to watch them open it and clean the pearl. Now she gets to pick out her setting and she's going to have a beautiful necklace!
Okay, back to our eating! I just have to have some more of that watermelon water from Mexico and a piece of Spanakopita from Greece (It's good, but Gene's is better!)
Everyone full? Did you have enough to eat. It's getting late, we're going to call it a night and head back to the villa. Sleep well.
