Day 4 - 3/4
Pssst. Wake up! I know this is supposed to be a relaxing vacation, but we want to go to Disney Studios for Early Entry (or whatever it's called these days). It's better to get an early start today so we feel like taking a nap this afternoon. You'll appreciate the rest when we're at E-Ride tonight.
Now that we're here at Disney-MGM Studios, you have a choice; you can go with Gene and the kids on Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, or you can come shopping and picture taking with me. No, I'm not afraid of either of those rides and I usually go on them. But Friday is my Birthday and Gene and the kids want some ideas on what to get me. Plus, my parents gave me 50 Disney Dollars for my Birthday and I need to decide what to buy. No, I don't mind if you go with Gene and the kids, I like to putter around at my own pace.
Oh, I already see something that my parents are buying me. It's a Disney 2003 wallet on a little bungee cord that I can wear around my neck. There's plenty of room in it to carry my cards, money and keys. You know, I think they're going to buy me this 2003 t-shirt, too. And I still have money left over for them to buy me something else. :) But I just don't know what to ask Gene and the kids for. I think I'll walk over to that neat little shop next to the Animation building.... and then I'll walk back because it's not open, yet. But that's okay, I'll just traipse through this Villain's store and see if anything catches my eye.
Well, this catches my eye... it's Gene and the kids walking down the road and they're half an hour early. Hey, you guys, look at all the Nightmare Before Christmas stuff. I think Justin would like to have all of it. As long as we're on this side of the park, let's go to The Little Mermaid. I haven't seen that show for quite a while and I really like it.
Rachel and Justin really want to see the Muppets, so we'll walk over that way. Oh, there's a big crowd over there and we don't feel like waiting. There was no wait at Star Tours, let's go do that. Ouch! Justin, what are you doing?! Quit pinching me! I don't care if you call it a Smurf Bite, it's still a pinch. This boy is messing with the wrong person now! Just let him get in and buckle his seat belt. Now he's trapped and I can pinch him back! How do you like that, kid?!?! So I have a juvenile moment and we have a pinching battle all through the Star Tours ride. The people behind us are laughing at us. Now the ride's done, let's compare bruises. Gene, look what Justin did to me! Oh look what I did to him, that's a nice bruise and look where my nails dug in. That will teach the smart alecky teenager to mess with Mom. :) He said it was his most enjoyable ride on Star Tours.
Now for the moment Gene has been dreading.... we want to eat at Sci-Fi Dine-In. He just doesn't like the food there, but the rest of us want to eat there so he's giving in. It's not open for another 20 minutes so let's go in this little book store next door. Ooh, I'd love to get some scrapbooking supplies, but I haven't worked on my scrapbooks in a long time. But look what Gene found - check out those cookies. Oh, we just have to have on for dessert. Everyone pick out what kind you want. Aren't they gigantic?
Sci-Fi is finally open. I'm glad we got here first thing, since we don't have priority seating. Wow, we're right in front. Our car seats six, we'll let Justin and Rachel sit in front, we'll sit in the middle. I don't know the couple behind us. The kids think the movie clips are so silly, but I'm old enough that I remember when they really were scary. The food isn't the greatest on property, I'll agree with Gene on that, but I love the atmosphere. There aren't any drive-in movie theaters where we live anymore.
There's nothing here that we're dying to do right now, so we're heading back to the villa for an afternoon rest and relaxation. I'm going to play on the computer for a bit and then take a nap. You might want to go with Gene and the kids.... they're going swimming and then they're going to stop in Community Hall and play some video games. It looks like they had fun... Gene has blisters on his fingers from playing the Simpson's video game. Sometimes it's hard to tell who's the parent and who's the kid. :)
Rest time is over. It's time to go to the Magic Kingdom for E-Ride night. We want to get there a little early so we can go on a couple things that won't be open later tonight. We have no trouble finding a parking place and we're walking to the Ticket and Transportation Center when I get a terrible thought - we forgot to set the VCR to tape 24. Our favorite show and we made plans for it. We brought a tape from home and planned on taping it. And we forgot. Oh, well.....
It's not crowded here at all. We're starting with Splash Mt. and Big Thunder Mt. It's terrible sitting next to Rachel on Big Thunder Mt., she keeps leaning over and squishing me. The way the train is turning, I should be squishing her, but she just braces herself against the side of the car and pushes for all she's worth. Geesh, this kid is strong! We're going to the Haunted Mansion next and I'm riding with Gene! I sure wish the Winnie the Pooh ride was open for E-Ride, it's my very favorite. But nothing in Fantasyland is open, so we're heading over to Tomorrowland. Rachel loves Space Mt. It doesn't scare me, but I don't like it, either. It's too jerky and bumpy for me. I'll just sit out here on this bench and drink my frozen coke while you guys ride. But I'll go on Buzz Lightyear with everyone. You can steer, I need both hands to shoot this laser gun thingy. I'm not very good, but at least I'm finally getting more than 200 points. I wouldn't mind doing Alien Encounter, but look at all those people. I don't want to wait, do you?
You know we did all that in just over 90 minutes. It's only 8:40. You know what... we could leave now and still get back to the villa to catch the end of 24. :) It's unanimous - let's go! This is the fastest we've walked on the whole vacation! And we made good time, too. We only missed the first 15 minutes. And the best part is that during commercials Gene is going to cook dinner for us. Yummy.... orzo pasta with chicken, pine nuts and sun-dried tomatoes, with just a touch of olive oil. Help yourself, there's plenty for everyone.
I think we fit in quite a bit of fun for one day. As soon as I finish playing on the computer I'm going to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a fun day!
