Day 5
This is the day Gene goes golfing with Ross and Wayne, so I'm taking the kids to the Crystal Palace to have lunch with Pooh and friends. Of course, the Crystal Palace is all dressed up for Christmas.
Justin is much too cool to get up and play with the characters, so Tigger comes to him. You're never too old to have fun with Tigger!
Rachel has never been shy around characters and they all come up to her first...
...except when Steve saw Pooh. He's always had a thing for Pooh and he jumped up right away and went to get a hug. Isn't it wonderful how Disney keeps our hearts so young and fresh?!?!
After lunch we decide to go to Downtown Disney and we want to take Steve on one of our favorite boat rides, so we head to Port Orleans to catch the boat there.
The boats look new and different from the last time I rode them...
...and after a leisurely ride down the Sassagoula...
...we arrive at Downtown Disney.
I get the kids to slow down long enough for one more picture with Pooh...
...
...and then they make a beeline for the Virgin megastore. We walked (I'm still tired just thinking about it) ALL the way from one end of Downtown Disney to the other! Next time, I'm taking the bus!
We made it back to the resort and meet up with our golfer. Now it's time to sit back and relax and get ready for another late night. Tonight, a group of friends are going on the fireworks cruise that leaves from the Grand Floridian. There are so many of us that we need two pontoon boats and something is wrong with the other boat. It's taking on water and some of the people are getting wet. Sure am glad I'm not on that boat :-) But the boat stays afloat and everyone seems to have a good time in spite of the water.
After the cruise, a group of buddies are going to the Kona Cafe for dinner, but we won't be joining them because we have special reservations for the California Grill and we don't want to miss that. Of course, Gene and Justin have to have sushi. I wasn't willing to take pictures of the raw fish, but I thought you might like to see the Kid's Sushi dessert. It's made out of cereal and gummies and fruit roll-ups. Now this is sushi I could go for!
It was a late dinner and it's time to get back and get some packing done. Tomorrow is our last day and we check out by 11:00 am.
