Day 6 - 7/3
Good morning, we're going out to breakfast. We're going to eat at 1900 Park Fare for the first time. You guessed it, I'm going to take some pictures. :) We don't have reservations, but there's no wait. Look, there's Mary Poppins right out front.
Yep, it's a character buffet. Tigger is here, and Pooh and the Mad Hatter and even Belle. Go ahead and get a plate of food while I take a picture of the calliope.
How was your breakfast? Did you get a hug from Tigger? I wanted to squeeze the Mad Hatters nose. :)
Let's do something else we've never done down here, we're going to see a movie at Downtown Disney. We decide on Terminator 3, but we have some time to kill. We might as well check out the West Side. I've never paid much attention to this area, I think I'll........... take some pictures! Oh, they have a candy store, let's get some candy for when we watch the movie.
Would you like a piece of fudge? Let's go watch the movie. This is a huge theatre, let's sit upstairs. Not bad. :)
Well, we all know that it will storm this afternoon, but let's see if we can go swimming before it starts. The kids want to stay in the room and play video games, but Gene and I are going swimming. No, I'm not walking to the pool, I want to drive over. Hop in, get wet, and..... it starts pouring. The sky just opened up. Everyone run to the van. Now aren't you glad we drove over?!
The rain shouldn't last long. It's almost 4 o'clock, let's go over to Epcot. Maybe Mission: Space will be running again. Yep, it is, and we're going on it again. Everyone pick a different position from last time. Now that I'm not so nervous I can pay more attention to the ride itself. Yep, it's a winner! Did you like it? Any headaches? Dizziness? Silly Gene decided to close his eyes during hyper-sleep to make it seem more realistic and when he did, he could feel the spinning. @@
We've decided on Le Cellier for dinner. It's early enough that it shouldn't be crowded. And it's not. :) Three out of four of us get steak and it's excellent. Gene and I get Bearnaise sauce to go with ours. We're too full for dessert. Would you like to see the 360º movie, O Canada now? That's our next stop. Hey, I have an idea - I'll take some pictures. :) But I don't use flash and spoil anyone else's experience. My favorite part has always been the Mounties (but that's because I like their horses).
I'm glad we came here. It's been a while since we've seen this movie. Don't forget to look behind you.
Of course, now the kids want to go to Japan. They're crazy about Japanese Anime and Rachel wants to learn to speak Japanese. She uses her chopsticks everywhere she goes. Gene and I want to look at the clocks one more time to decide if we want to buy one for my parents for a housewarming present. They're beautiful clocks, but that's a lot of money to spend if my parents don't like it. I think we'll get them something different.
Time to wind up the evening. I think we've accomplished our goal of a more relaxing vacation this time, don't you? We just have one more night. It's time to pack and get some sleep and then....
Day 7 - 7/4
... it's time to get up. We have a long drive ahead of us. We have plenty of time and could even go to a park, but thinking about that 16 hour drive makes us want to leave for home before we get too tired. We have to load up the car and double check that we've gotten everything. We're going home.
But surely we have enough time for breakfast! We've been to Whispering Canyon Cafe for lunch and dinner, now we're going to give breakfast a try. This place is hopping! Everyone's awake and alert and the servers are all wound up. It's loud and raucous and lots of fun. Look at those people ask for ketchup. KETCHUP! WHO'S GOT THE KETCHUP? Other guests come over carrying multiple bottles of ketchup and put it on the table. This happens over and over every time someone wants ketchup. Oh, boy! I know I'm safe because I'm going to get French Toast, but the boys are getting the skillet breakfast and Rachel likes ketchup on her eggs. None of them want to ask for it. So I do. :) KETCHUP! WHO'S GOT THE KETCHUP?
By the way, the food is very good. Think we have enough ketchup? Uh oh, somebody else asked for it - start grabbing bottles, Rachel. Here we go again.
As we leave, we see a man with just one bottle of ketchup and two of the servers decide that he must have stolen it - so they put him in jail. They were going to "string him up", but the server couldn't get the rope over the rafter so they wrapped it around this poor guy. (I just had to stop and give the server a hard time for not getting the rope over the rafter.)
It was a fun ending to a fun trip. I hope you had as much fun as we did, thanks for joining us.
