Day 7 - 10/24
Well, we're checking out, but we're not leaving. Since DVC points are so much higher on Fridays and Saturdays, we're moving to a studio for a night and then we'll leave for home tomorrow. Bad news, the resort is crowded and our studio isn't ready, yet. This looks like the perfect time to go back to Downtown Disney and do some last minute shopping. Our first stop is Basin, where we buy some Christmas presents and some more items for the family. As long as we're down this way, how about a drink at Ghirardelli? I'm sure we can all find something we like there.
The kids would like to play at Disney Quest some more, but I'm not too thrilled with the idea. We let them go together, after a lecture on safety and strict instructions to stay together. They're old enough and Justin is responsible enough for the two of them to go places without us, as long as they stay together. We're make sure to give them one of our cell phones and money for something to eat.
Then Gene and I head off for lunch at the Yacht Club Galley. They used to have the best French Onion Soup, made with Guinness Stout, but they don't make it anymore. :( We still have a good lunch and the time passes quickly.
We've eaten here several times and I know I'll run back if I ever fine out that they're making the soup again!
Well, we're trying to give the kids more freedom and room to grow, but we still worry about them and don't want to leave them alone for too long, so we're going back to Disney Quest. Our room still isn't ready, so we'll be there for a little while until it is.
Finally! It's ready - we'll be in studio villa 231! Let's go unpack for the night.
The curtains and bedspread have Little Mermaid characters printed on them. :)
Now that that's taken care of, we're off to Disney-MGM Studios! This is our last night and we're going to meet up with Donna and her sons later to watch Fantasmic. I was hoping we'd get to the park a little earlier, but we still have time for a couple of things. First stop; Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey. Next time you go in this attraction, make sure to go in one of the little sound rooms when you exit to Soundsations.

I think we have time for one more attraction before we look for Donna and the boys... how do you feel about The Great Movie Ride? It's just been re-habbed and everything looks shiny and new. Did you know that there are two different live-action sequences in the ride, Cowboys or Gangsters? Which one you see depends on which car you're in, but here's a hint.... When you first enter the attraction the line will split into two. Normally, the right side will take you to the car that gets the Cowboy sequence and the left side will take you to the car that gets the Gangster sequence. We're going with the Cowboy this time. :)
Hope you enjoyed it.
Now it's time to head for Sunset Boulevard and watch for Donna. There she is! Hi Marty, hi Ryan! Here we are, seven hungry people and a wait for Fantasmic. We're going over to the Sunset Ranch Market and get food that we can take and eat while we're waiting. We want to make sure to get good seats.
So it's burgers, dogs, and turkey legs for dinner. Everyone have their drink? Let's go. I think these seats will be just fine. Ryan is crazy about Justin and spends the whole time playing with "the big boy." Justin is so gentle and patient with him, I can't wait to see how he acts with his own kids later in life. Ryan informs his Mom that he wants to take the big boy home with him. He even talks Justin into a piggy-back ride after the show.
Gene is going to film the show, I wish I could share it with you. It's Fantasmic!!! The video came out so much better than my photos. Some day I'm going to transfer the video to my computer and then I'll pull some pictures off of it to share with you. :)
Fantasmic is over all too soon, and so is our vacation. We give Donna and the boys a ride to where they parked their car and then it's time to head back to the villa for the evening. There's not too much to pack this time and we'll be ready to leave for home in the morning. I think that on future trips, we'll stay in the studio at the beginning of our trip and go home after our stay in the 1-bedroom. It's too tiring to change rooms on the last day.
It was a great vacation! We had so much fun with friends, excellent weather, friendly cast members and good food.
I'm so glad you could join us.
