Day 7 - 3/7
Happy Birthday to me! Happy Birthday to me! Yep, today's the big day and here are the kids with my Birthday presents. Oh, look, it's a gift bag with the Castle on it. Oh, there's a new personal phone directory and it has the Castle on the outside. Good, I wanted one of these. And they also got me my own Eeyore hook to hang my coat on. Eeyore is my favorite. Gene still doesn't know what to get me, so he's going to let me go shopping and pick out what I want. That's fantastic, because I really don't like surprises.
Gene already went up to the front desk and checked into our Old Key West Studio Villa. Let's pack up the last things and get everything in the car. We just have to go right down the road a little bit. Oh, this is really nice. I really like that it's so light and bright.
Since it's my Birthday, I get to pick what we do today and I would like to go to......... Epcot! Good grief, it's so very hot. For my Birthday I want to go to the Fountainview Cafe and have a frozen Cappuccino and desert for breakfast. :) Yummy! Sure, we can go into Ice Station Cool, it's right here.
Wanna taste something really good? - Just try the Beverly. BWAhahahaha!
Okay, it's just too hot. I don't even feel like doing anything. But I would like to get some pictures of the outside of Mission Space, so let's head over there. WHOA, check this guy out! What is a caveman doing in Future World?!?!
Awwww, I think he's cute. UGH!
Gene is going to get Fast Passes for Test Track while we go over to Mission Space to get a few pictures. Looks like they're doing some painting. I wish we could get closer. We might as well walk over and take a couple pictures of Test Track. Where's Gene? Hey, where were you? You met a friend? Oh, I missed him. Gene grunted at the caveman and the caveman walked with him. He was going to bring him over to me at Mission Space, but we had moved on. But you know what?... I don't want to wait to go on Test Track. Let's get out of here. Oh, there he is! UGH! Hahaha, he's grunting back at me. UGH! He said, "LASAGNA!" But I don't have any lasagna. Sorry. He just blew a raspberry at me! There he goes, bye-bye caveman.
On our way out, let's walk through one of the Innoventions and I'll take some pictures. I think the kids could stay in here all day if we'd let them. But we're not.
Now, let's go to Downtown Disney. I know the last present I'm buying with the money my parents gave me - a silver ring with my name carved in it. I saw it at Fort Wilderness, but I think they do it here, too. I'll just have to ask someone. Okay, there's the stand. It won't take long and we can shop while we wait. Gene offers to buy me the Mickey lamps like they have at the Grand Floridian, but I don't want to spend $500 on lamps that the cats might break. I know what I want anyway, but let's go get my ring.
And then I really want to eat lunch at Cap'n Jack's. It doesn't thrill Gene, but hey, it's my Birthday! And it's better than Gene expected, too. Now, let's go to the Virgin Megastore and get my Birthday presents. I know just what I want; The Ring on DVD, the first season of the Osbournes on DVD and the new book, Utopia, but Lincoln Child. But we should drive over, it's too hot and it's all the way on the other side. They don't have my book, but they have my DVDs. I'll buy the book when I get home. That's all I wanted for my Birthday. :)
We've decided that Gene and I are going out to dinner alone tonight. Let's see if we can get reservations upstairs at Wolfgang Puck's. Not until late? No, I don't want to eat late. We'll try it next time. Let's head back to the villa and I'll think about someplace else to eat dinner. The kids want to play video games and to be honest, I'm just about sick of them. I'm really tired of hearing them argue. So Gene and I are going swimming. I suggest you join us, you must be tired of my kids, too. The quiet pool is very nice - and QUIET!
I know where to have dinner. I'm picking..... Shula's Steak House at the Dolphin. Nah, don't call for reservations, they always save a few seats for walk-ins. We could probably walk in and get a seat at Wolfgang Puck's, too, but Gene has always wanted to eat at Shula's. The kids are ordering a pizza to be delivered.
See, they have a seat for us, we don't even have to wait. Any idea what you want? Oh, here comes the server with a tray of all the different cuts of steak. And look at that giant fake lobster. I think I'll touch it. EEEEKKKKKK!!!! It moved! It's alive! OMG, it's huge! I really, really want one, but I just can't sentence it to death. I don't mind eating them when they're already dead and frozen, but I can't stand the thought of picking out a lobster and having them drop it in boiling water. I asked if they'll just sever it's spinal cord with a knife to kill it quickly, but they don't do that.... so I'm having a boneless strip steak (or whatever they call it), very rare please.
I gotta admit, this is the most tender steak I've ever had, but it's very cold. I know that rare steaks are cool, but this tastes like it just came out of the fridge. It's good, though. For texture it's probably the best ever, but for overall taste, my absolute favorite is the steak is at the Flying Fish Cafe. But here's dessert and it's one of the best I've ever had. There's plenty, grab a spoon and dig into the Chocolate Souffle. Isn't that wonderful?!
It's time to go back to the villa. It feels strange to be in the same room with the kids. I know they're going to complain about our snoring. It's early so we all watch some tv together and I get as much ready for tomorrow as possible. Then we need to get to sleep, it's a 16 hour drive home tomorrow. We'll be leaving as soon as we get up.
It was nice to have you join us for vacation. I hope you had fun. :)
