December 2004 - BCV
Sunday recap...
Yesterday, we were awake before 4:00 am. We finally got up and came over to check in early at the BCV. Thankfully our room was ready and we were able to get everything in and unpack. Then we had to rush over to meet the golfers at Spoodles for breakfast. While they went golfing, Rachel and I put up Christmas decorations and I napped for an hour. Then we met up with Matt (Mattsmom's Matt) at Beaches and Cream for lunch and came back here to set up for company.
TVT and his buddy got here with Gene first. Then Glo and Patrick, followed by Buz and Diane. And then Kim and Zurg stopped by. It was great fun, but all the food didn't get eaten, so I hope a hungry group comes back after the Illuminations party!
Gene and I wandered around Epcot last night and I took a few pictures. It was pretty crowded, there a ton of folks lining up to see the Candlelight Processional.
Rachel was really tired and stayed back at the room. Gene and I went out to dinner - at Beaches and Cream.
I slept so well last night, I didn't even wake up to pee!!!
Monday recap...
We went over to the MK and crammed a lot of attractions into two hours... Stitch (loved it), Buz Lightyear, TTA, Winnie the Pooh and the Haunted Mansion. By 11:00, it was really getting crowded so we left. We went over to the Poly so I could take some pictures and ate lunch at the Kona Cafe. Good sticky wings.
Then we drove over to the Premier outlets, but couldn't find anything that we wanted to buy. We had a little bit of a rest in our room and then met up with Frozenfingers and his wife (he's on the DIS). We went over to MGM to see the Osborne Lights. They're fantastic this year, I hope my pictures turn out okay!.
We topped the night off with a fantastic dinner at the Flying Fish Cafe. They still have the best steak I've ever tasted.
Now it's time to go to sleep so we can start all over tomorrow.
Tuesday recap...
Rachel lost her CD player in the move between the AKL and the BCV. She thinks she left it under the bed at the AKL, but they can't find it. So, we went to Target first thing and bought a new one. No music addict should have to live without their CD player on vacation. Besides, we knew we had a long afternoon ahead of us and didn't want her to be miserable and have her head spin around.
And Santa Claus was at Target!!!!! I was so excited! I yelled, "Santa Claus!" He came over and Rachel and I had our picture taken with him. They had a polaroid camera, but I said no, use my camera. He was a little skinny, but you know... he gets fatter as it gets closer to Christmas. After we checked out, he was on the other side of the registers and I yelled... Good-bye Santa, I love you! Gene ran away from me.
We went back to our room and ate lunch. We had gotten up much earlier than our bodies wanted to, so we collapsed and napped for an hour and then took off for Epcot to see some of the holiday storytellers. I particularly liked the storyteller in Japen. I wasn't as thrilled with Germany and we just missed Italy. Gene took off to video a couple others and Rachel and I sat outside Italy and drank frozen cappuccinos. Then we heard the fife and drums and took off for the American Adventure to watch and listen to their tribute to U.S. servicemen. Excellent! Pictures to come.
People were already lining up at 3:15 for the 5:00 Candlelight Processional. I figured that we were already waiting around, so we got in line. Once Gene joined us and then Buz, Diane, and Matt, the time passed quickly. And Joe,aka Zarr walked by and we all started screaming... it's Joe, it's Joe! He and his friend stopped and talked for a few minutes. He's going home next month and then we should see him around more often.
This was our first CP and it was incredible. Jim Caviezel was outstanding (and outstanding looking, too!). I don't think you can portray Christ without having a strong faith and when his voice broke when he was talking about Christ being crucified, I cried, too. It was such a moving performance. The conductor was also great to watch, as was the sign language translator. It was definitely a joyous show and everyone should see it at least once.
We had enough time before dinner to go see the American Adventure and then we were off to Le Cellier for dinner. The steak was good, but the company was better. It's a good thing Buz and company had plans, or we'd probably still be there talking.
We considered going to Jelly Rolls, but with full bellies, we only made it as far as our room. A nice hot jacuzzi, fireworks from the balcony, and we were ready for bed.
It wasn't a very active day, but it sure was fun.
Wednesday recap...
We went over to MGM first thing and rode ToT twice with no line. Then we went over and rode RnRC twice with a very short line. Okay, I only rode it once, but Gene and Rachel rode it twice. Then we did a little shopping in the Villains shop and the 5 & 10 and left. We're going back tomorrow while Gene and John and Buz go golfing.
Rachel decided to go to the room and get caught up on her homework, while Gene and I headed over to Fresh for lunch. It wasn't as good as I had remembered and the service was horrible. I hate horrible service and left a less than 10% tip. I wonder if she got the message?
I took some pictures of decorations at the Dolphin, Swan and Boardwalk. The Boardwalk decorations are awesome! I want to stay there next time!
Afterwards, we came back to the room. I took a little snooze while Gene and Rachel went over to Typhoon Lagoon. When they got back it was time to get ready and head over to Epcot...
... where we met Vicky Baybee for dinner at Biergarten. We also me Oldkicker, Snowark and Gina, but they didn't stay for dinner. But they had stopped for frozen margaritas before we met up. Remind Vicky not to ever drink another frozen margarita on an empty stomach!!!
After dinner, Vicky went back to her room to feel sick for a while and the rest of us wandered around World Showcase. We got a chance to see the storyteller in Norway and then ride Maelstrom. Then we went to Mexico and rode El Rio del Tiempo and ran into Buz and Diane on the way out. We finished up by finding a seat in the U.K. and listening to British Invasion and then it was time to cross the bridge and wait for the party to start.
The party that Wobin almost missed because the whole family fell asleep until Kim called and woke them up!!!! But they made it in time. We all made sundaes and had something to drink and then watched Illuminations. They added a little extra for the holidays and it was a great show!
A bunch of us came back here for drinks and snacks. Note to self.... next time get 2 six-packs for Del! We had people in the living room, in the bedroom, out on the balcony and even standing around in the bathroom! I apologize to anyone who might be reading this and was one of our neighbors. But at least we were done raising hell by midnight. We even had a couple of DISers!!!
It was a fun time. Buz took lots of pictures.
Thursday recap...
Gene, John and Buz got up at the crack of dawn to go golfing. The rest of us got up a bit later (some of us a lot later) and headed over to MGM. Rachel and I met up with Diane and Matt on the boat over to the park. I called Wobin at 9:00 (when we were supposed to meet) and they were still trying to get organized (there is a definite pattern here!). As we were walking along, we ran into Towncrier and a few of his friends and decided to play together. We rode RnRC twice with no wait and then went over to ToT and did the same thing. Towncrier decided to scream every time the lights went out. On the second ride... as soon as it was finished and the CM opened the doors to let us out, we all screamed.
We finally met up with the Zurgs and Wobin and company at.... you guessed it... Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Yes, I went in to the silly thing. At least I made it to the leader board by the time it was over.
Rachel and I left not long after that to join the golf boys for lunch at Olivia's and then took a nap. When we got up, we all agreed that we weren't ready to leave. We tried to get a room for an extra night, but they're all booked. That's right, there are no rooms left at WDW.... except for three suites. I don't think so.
So, off we went to dinner at LTT. We came across some of the group just as we entered the park, but they took off at the speed of light (Kim sure does walk fast!) so we just let them go and caught up at dinner. They put us at several different tables in the same area, so we were all together. I sat at a table with Gene, Rachel, John, Janet and Em. Em had us in stitches for the whole meal. The apple didn't fall far from that tree!!!
The group split off into smaller groups that would get together for certain things and then separate for a bit and wind up back together again. Wishes was spectacular!!!!
Oh, and....
... we still couldn't get a room this morning, so we're staying off-site for a night!
I'll see you Sunday morning!
Friday recap...
We were up and packed and out of our villa by 10:00 am. Gene had made reservations for Park Inn so we could stay and play another night. Housekeeping is very obnoxious on the day you leave, they come knocking at the door every hour as soon as the sun rises. As much as I appreciate getting my room early when I check in, I really hate someone knocking at the door when I'm sleeping. I never did like people waking me up.
We just left our car at the BCV and went over to Epcot to catch Mission:Space before we left. I usually feel a little queasy by the end, but this time didn't bother me at all. I felt like I could go right back and ride again.... but I didn't.
We walked through the rain, the only rain our whole trip, to the Fountainview Cafe to get a frozen Cappuccino and meet up with friends. Vicky and Alisha found us first and then we met up with Matt and his folks in Ice Station Cool. Vicky had the bright idea that we should have a Beverly drinking contest. The adults immediately said no way, but she got the children to play along while Buz acted as timer. Of course, Gene drank just enough to beat the other kids... very competitive, that one. Then it was Vicky's turn. I whispered in Buz'zzz ear to give her 5 extra seconds. We ended up having so much fun watching her that I don't think he timed her at all. Just wait 'til you see the faces she made. Dumb Ass! (LY/MI Vicky Baybee)
Buz and Gene went over to get fast passes for Test Track and the rest of us went to visit with Figment.
Lunch Time! We all agreed on Marrakesh (very handy since the boat goes right to Morocco) Gene wanted to walk, but he couldn't get anyone to walk with him, so we took the boat. Good lunch. I've always liked Marrakesh.
We split up after lunch. It was time to check into our new room and take a short nap before going over to MGM one last time.
MGM wasn't crowded for rides at all because everyone was doing the Osborne Lights. We walked right on Star Tours and Muppet Vision 3D. I'm glad we got to see them both before we left. Osborne Lights is right next to the Muppets this year, there's a gap and you can see part of it. And who was on the other side??? Buz, Diane and Matt. And guess what? We were all hungry. We all agreed to eat at Beaches and Cream and then go to Jelly Rolls. The wait was so long to get into Beaches and Cream, that once we finished dinner I was pooped and opted out of Jelly Rolls. We decided to go back to our room and get to sleep because it's a long drive home the next day.
And then some fool called and woke us up.
