Saturday Night Arrival (05/13)
Laura and I left home around 1:15pm for our 5:25pm flight. We stopped at a diner for lunch along the way where the food was OK but the waitresses were very cute…I'd go back just for them. Onto the airport as we parked our car at a parking lot near the airport and were shuttled right away to the Southwest terminal. We had a very uneventful wait at Philadelphia airport and flight (which is a good thing), as we arrived in Orlando about 7:40pm (about 20 minutes early). At that point we thought we might get to Pop Century at a decent time but that thought left my mind as we waited about 40 minutes just to get our luggage. While waiting for our luggage we saw a woman with the longest hair we have ever seen; it went to mid-calf on her. That must be a nightmare to maintain but I kept having thoughts of being able to tie her up with her own hair….but I digress.
From there, we went straight to the Alamo rental car garage and picked out a Jeep Liberty for our mid-size SUV. I got a very good rate on this months ago, and at the time, the SUV was cheaper than even a compact car. Unfortunately, it was another 20 minutes just to get out of the garage as there was a long line of cars checking out at 8:30 on a Saturday night….who'd a thunk it! The Jeep was OK but it lacked headroom for me...I'd get a different car next time and the gas mileage is around 13 miles/gal…pathetic!

Once at the Pop Century, we checked in and went straight to the food court for something to eat. Laura had a Caesar salad and chocolate cake while I had shrimp lo-mein and green beans…all of it was very good. This was the second or third time we had eaten at the Pop Century food court and each time has been surprisingly good and affordable. From there we drove over to our room which was in the 90's section. We called Jim, as he too was in the 90's section, but he was already in bed (this was around 10:20). We opted to go swimming and Laura eventually got into the water after I convinced her that the water was warm….though it was fairly cool. We didn't swim for too long and it was time to go to sleep so we could get an early start the next morning.
