Happy Mother's Day Laura! We were up early and were out of our room by 7:00am so we could check-in at The Boardwalk. Unfortunately, our room was not ready and we opted to go to breakfast at Spoodles. Laura got a rose and a hug from a CM (an older gent) which she loved. We were the first people seated for the day as we even had to wait a few moments for them to open their doors. One thing that always jumped out at us at Spoodles was the over-sized coffee cups but this time, they were smaller than what they used to be….though still large. We each ordered the platter that came with eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and a biscuit. Laura gave me her sausage and a piece of bacon and all of it was very good.
Next it was off to the Animal Kingdom as we were there as the gates opened.
We headed towards Africa where we got a Fastpass for the safari ride and headed onto Pangani Forest. This is one of Laura's favorite things to do at AK as she loves the gorillas. They were out and lounging around though not real playful.
Overall, the animals were quite laid back and not very active at all. From here, we went straight onto the safari ride and we rode in the back row so Laura could get some pictures. Unfortunately, the ride is just too bumpy to get real good pictures but she got a few. After the ride, we called Kelly as we knew she and her mother would be at AK in the morning. They were just arriving at the park and we planned to meet up with them for the 10:30 show of the Lion King which we headed right over to. It was my first time to meet Kelly and both she and her mother (Kitty) are a lot of fun….we had a good time whenever we were with them.

In the Lion King show, we were in the elephant section. The acrobatic monkeys were great and the show though good overall, to me, was not as good as in the past. The main performers were not nearly as strong (singing wise) as past performances I have seen. Afterwards, Kitty and Laura went onto It's Tough To Be A Bug, while Kelly and I went to Expedition Everest. The wait for EE indicated 60 minutes but was more like 35. If you haven't waited in the queue at EE, once inside, it is very cool as we got to see much of the exhibit and it is very interesting. Once at the ride itself, Kelly asked to ride in front and that we did….and it was a good ride. The ride itself is a lot of fun and even more so in the front seat for when the ride stops to go in reverse, the drop and view are quite impressive. After the ride, we met up with Laura and Kitty and we all decided to go to Maharaja Jungle Trek. Kitty had never been here and I think really enjoyed it. The tigers were out and were very impressive. Many other animals were out as well and overall, they were much more active than the animals over at Pangani Forest.

Afterwards, we all opted to head out of the park and Laura and I went back to the BW to see if our room was ready; which of course, it was not. We decided to go out to the pool and have a drink or two.

Laura very rarely drinks and two drinks is more than enough to make her more `loopy' than she already is…and she got buzzed. Fortunately, after the drinks, our room was ready…room 2062. The biggest bummer being at the BW is room location because it is very possible your room could be a very long walk from the lobby. Well, room 2062 was right off the main lobby overlooking the main swimming pool….it was ideal for us. We also found out that Sweet was in 2064, Kelly in 2054, and Jim in 2059; so they did a real nice job of putting our rooms together. I believe we can thank Laura for asking to get our rooms together and Kelly for the room location as she asked for a room within easy access to the lobby so Kitty would not have too long a walk….well done gals! We got a chance to unpack and unwind before dinner…..also; Laura got a chance to clear her head. Oh Kelly…remember I told you in the hallway outside our room about Laura being buzzed; well it didn't get me `lucky'…she was still conscious enough to thwart my advances (ha-ha)!
We headed over to the Beach Club at 4:30 for our 5:40 dinner at Cape May Cafe. We sacked out in the lobby chairs where Laura promptly went to sleep as we waited for the others. I wish I had a camera to take of picture of her because her lips curl down and she gets such a sour-puss look on her face and she had it going. Heck, I even left her there at one point looking for a drink in the Beach Club lounge but it was not open. At around 5:30 or so, Kelly, Kitty, Jody and her mom, Mitzi, showed up.

We were seated after about a 10 minute wait and we were right next to the salad bar….a nice short walk for all of us to begin feeding our faces. I had my usual fare…..salad, clams, mussels, corn, and redskin potatoes….I get the same thing every time I am here as I never venture over to the other foods available. I love clams and mussels so feel no reason to try the other foods that are just going to fill me up and keep me from getting my 8-10 dozen of clams and mussels…which I did…yum! I think everyone enjoyed their meal as we always do here.
After dinner, we all headed over to MGM. Along the way to catch the boat, we stopped for a `chat' break outside of Hurricane Hanna's (at Storm along Bay). It was a nice time talking and getting to know each other better. I have to admit that being the only man in the group, I felt like I was invading the Ya-Ya Sisterhood though it was fun. Off to the boat and MGM after about a 30 minute chat. At MGM, Kelly decided to get a wheelchair for Kitty as she was getting tired very easily with all of the walking she was doing. This was a great idea and I am sure enabled Kitty to enjoy her times more and gave her the ability to see more of WDW during the week. We all headed into the park but stopped first for a PhotoPass opportunity…these pics came out well.
Onto Fantasmic but Laura and I decided to go on rides rather than see the show so splitsville it is for the group….enjoy the show!
Off to Tower of Terror for us but unfortunately the wait indicated 40 minutes and we do not do `long lines' well. Off to Rock n' Roller Coaster it is and a 20 minute wait on the sign turned into about 10. This is my favorite ride at MGM and it was as good as ever. Next, over to Star Tours we go and we walk right on.

There was an upset child on the ride and was freaking Laura out as it did seem kind of cruel to make the kid ride. Fortunately, he calmed down once the ride started. This was Laura's favorite ride at MGM before she discovered TOT…but she still likes it a lot. Finally, we made it over to see the Muppet 3-D show as it was about to close…they even lowered the rope so we could get in….again, we walked right on. Once that was over, it was a few minutes after 9:00 and the park was closed. What a ghost town we walked through to get to the boat dock….very eerie in my opinion. Fantasmic had just started so there was nobody at the boat back to the BW and again, we walked right on as the boat was leaving. As far as lines and waits go, we did very well at MGM.
Once we got back to MGM, we encountered Jim as he was sitting on his patio that was overlooking the walkway where you go from the BW back towards the main pool to get to the downstairs elevator. We joined Jim on his balcony and got caught up on `stuff' while we shared a few beers. Jim looked beat after entertaining his daughter and her kids for a few days…a few Japanese beers were well needed to help him relax. Kelly & Kitty eventually walked by and they came up to join us. It was a nice way to end the day.
